After 30 years of parenting five children and 20 years of working with teens, Connie has witnessed the negative impact of well-intentioned but misguided parenting styles, all focused on managing teens rather than guiding them. But through learning to focus on the hearts of your teens, you can avoid those pitfalls and build relationships that last beyond the transition years as you intentionally learn about, connect with, and listen to your teens.
In a world filled with distractions and devices, it is possible to guide their hearts and remain the primary influence in their lives. In Parenting Beyond the Rules, you will discover how to raise a teen according to his or her strengths, talents, and personality type, as these things equip teens to manage life.

"Why do I homeschool? Because today my children will be at home with me, learning about the catastrophic events that happened in New York. About the evil that happens when we deviate from God's design. And about how we have a God that mourns because he loves his people. They will be home with me, praying for the preborn babies, rather than in a public school system that tells them they get to choose for themselves what is good and evil, rather than looking to God for truth." - Aby Rinella

Elizabeth Johnston, “the Activist Mommy”, is an activist vlogger, speaker, and author who educates and inspires the public on the burning social and moral issues of the day that are important to families. She and her husband Patrick, who is a medical doctor, author, and movie producer, have been pro-life ministry leaders for many years and home educate their 10 beautiful children. The growing threat to America’s children and the vicious attack on religious liberty is what dynamited Elizabeth out of her comfort zone to inspire a nation of belittled conservatives and Christians to “come out of their closets” and boldly take their country back. Elizabeth daily triggers the left by confronting the lies of abortion, feminism, Islam, and the homosexual agenda with wit and snark like only she can, and she regularly posts viral commentary videos which have netted over 70 million views. Elizabeth has been featured on many major media outlets, such as Fox & Friends, The New York Times, The Blaze and Christian Broadcasting Network, as she has become a thought leader on topics of importance to families. The pulse behind all her activism and cultural commentary is her love for her family and her Savior, Jesus Christ.

"At age four, I learned that God created the universe and all it contains in six days, plus that I needed Jesus to rescue me from my sins. Then at age fifteen, I learned that I needed a relationship with Jesus. That is when He turned my head-knowledge into heart-knowledge… Jesus is so very generous, He can give you a new heart, too! Today, Jesus continues to conform me more into His likeness each and every day. I look forward to sharing in this adventure with you!" -Steven
Steven's professional life takes him on journeys throughout the world as Founder/COO of The International Association for Creation. The International Association for Creation is a global umbrella organization serving biblical worldview museums and ministries. Steven and his team provide strategic guidance, logistics management, and tactical support to thousands of leaders around the world. Steven founded the ministry in 2012, simply by praying with a friend at his local church for a creation science museum on the other side of the continent, since then God has continued to bless their team's work in all corners of the world.

In this episode, Yvette Hampton and Leslie Nunnery discuss the importance of God’s mandate to parents in Deuteronomy 6:5-7. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.”
How can we do that practically through homeschooling?
Leslie Nunnery is the co-founder of Teach Them Diligently Conventions along with her husband David. She is the homeschool mother of four children who range in age from 11-18. God has given her a strong burden to minister to Christian families to help support, encourage and equip them to disciple their children, protect their marriages, and serve God in the ways He has planned for them. She is an advocate of home education with a strong focus on discipleship which is evidenced in her writing and the events her family produces. She is also heavily involved in mission endeavors through Worldwide Tentmakers, for which her husband serves as president and Teach Them Diligently supports.
