Matthew 4:19 says, “Come and follow me and I will make you fishers of men.”

"He asked the men to drop their nets and walk away from everything that they knew, everything comfortable, everything that they kind of had figured out. And he said, 'Let it all go. Leave it all behind, and follow me into the unknown. But know that I’m with you.'" - Aby Rinella

 Schoolhouse Rocked Production Update

We couldn’t be more excited to announce that WE ARE DONE FILMING!!

On June 8, we ventured off on a 10 day trip across the country to meet up with Heidi St. John, her family, and their team at the Firmly Planted Homeschool Resource Center in Vancouver, Washington.

Our time there was incredibly successful as we finished filming the rest of Schoolhouse Rocked with Heidi and her crew. Though we had already filmed the majority of the interviews for the movie, we still needed to film a narrative that would weave throughout the film. Together, Heidi and I were able to tell that story and it couldn’t have gone better. If you’ve ever heard Heidi speak, or listened to her podcast, you know that she is passionate about the Gospel and homeschooling, and is an excellent communicator. She was God’s perfect provision for this very important part of the movie.

After filming in Washington, we headed south to California to spend some much needed time with family and friends. What a blessing it has been to reconnect and share with so many how faithful the Lord has been over the past 3 years as we’ve worked on, and now finished, production on the movie. We serve a VERY faithful God!!

BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Schoolhouse Rocked is not our movie. It’s a project by and for the homeschool community, and it’s all for God’s glory. We are confident that He will use this important resource to grow the homeschooling community and impact families around the world. However, if we are not able to raise the necessary funds to get through post-production, all progress on the movie will stop.

In order to complete this film with excellence, we need the help of the homeschooling community… we need YOU! The post-production budget for the film is $198,157. The majority of that budget still needs to be funded, so we are asking you to pledge monthly for the next 12 months to help us reach this goal. As a community we can finish this movie! Will you please join us?

Here’s how YOU can help..

1} PRAY! Pray for the Lord’s continued protection over our family, wisdom as we move forward, and for Schoolhouse Rocked to be fully funded. Pray also that this film will have a huge impact in God’s kingdom. Our greatest desire is not to simply make a movie about homeschooling, but to impact families and culture for Christ.

2} PLEDGE MONTHLY for the next 12 months. Any amount helps and it adds up quickly. Whether you can afford $10/month or $100/month or more, it’s all the same in God’s economy and will be a huge step towards finishing the movie and getting it into theaters.

3} SHARE THE NEED with anyone you know who believes in homeschooling. If you know someone who you think would be interested in supporting this project, please share this important work with them or put them in touch with us. We need the support of the homeschool community, sponsors, and donors both big and small.

There is a real need to pull together as a community and support the important ministry of Schoolhouse Rocked!

“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”
Romans 12:4-5

“I became passionate about this topic because my daughter was taking some leadership training classes to help prepare herself for working at our local Bible camp, and the conversation turned to how she would be less equipped to work with some of these kids because she was homeschooled. She came home really bothered about that, and at the same time actually, our youth pastor made the comment about the kids needing to be the salt and the light in the public school system, and how that's one reason he had never homeschooled is because he wanted his kids to be the salt and the light... She felt like she wasn't doing what God wanted her to do because she was homeschooled instead of being in the public school system.” - Misty Bailey

In this episode, Yvette Hampton and Misty Bailey discuss whether our kids have the responsibility of being "salt and light" in public schools. Are we missing an opportunity to evangelize when we remove our kids from public schools, and if they do not have the responsibility of being "salt and light" there, who does? Finally, we discuss how, when, and where our kids should be "salt and light", and how we can prepare them.

Early on, I started to recognize what was important in our homeschool day and how to keep it important and how to keep it the main thing and not lose sight of our goals. So that’s kind of where it kind of stemmed from. And so the book is very, very simple. It’s not a hard process or anything terribly complicated.” – Crystal Twibell

7 Steps to Homeschool Success - Home Education System

Author, homeschool mom, and homeschool graduate, Crystal Twibell recently joined Schoolhouse Rocked Podcast host, Yvette Hampton, in the studio for a live recording of the Schoolhouse Rocked Podcast, in which they talked about how to have a purposeful and successful homeschool system.

Crystal Twibell is a homeschool mom of 8 and author of 7 P’s in a Pod: A Purposeful System for Home Schooling Success. She is the owner of a consulting business that specializes in event planning and organizational systems and has worked in the homeschooling community for over 30 years. She has enjoyed homeschooling her eight children for the last 23 years. Transplanted from city life, she and her husband, John, along with their four youngest children, live in rural Georgia and appreciate the quiet sounds of the woods, mixed with the shouts and laughs of her children. A cup of coffee on the front porch and twinkling fireflies at dusk are as much a part of life as the occasional clogged toilet and burned breakfast.

7 P’s in a Pod provides encouragement to homeschool parents through laying out a formatted outline with the tools you need to plan a full, meaningful year of school that allows you to focus on the needs of each individual child. 7 P’s in a Pod is not a cookie-cutter approach; it outlines basic guidelines that, if followed, can result in lasting success for the entire family. The simple text and customizable charts can assist you in purposefully planning your homeschool year.

A listener asks, "How do you motivate the daydreamer to buckle down and complete their assignments quickly but well so that they can have more free time to pursue their passions. We’ve tried everything and even a scaled back assignment will take all day because she has no drive to finish. Do we just have to nag?" Encouraging Scripture for enjoying the outdoors

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.”  ~ Psalm 23:1-2 (ESV)

“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.”  ~ Job 12:7-10 (ESV)

“For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.”   ~ Romans 1:19-20 (ESV)

“God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good.”  ~ Genesis 1:10 (ESV)

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.” ~ Psalm 19:1-2 (ESV)

"I started to really pray about it, and a few people approached me and said, 'Have you thought about homeschooling?' And I was like, 'No, because that’s not something we’re going to do.' And so it really started, though, to chase me down; God started to chase me down. Because I think, deep down, I did sort of admire what I knew about homeschooling, but I just thought, 'That’s not for us.'" - Karen DeBeus
